Very interesting point. I always saw data centers as a crucial part of national sovereignty, but the lens of construction is a nice one. Makes me think about the impacts on architecture and urbanism too.

Totally agree — framing data centers through construction really highlights their physical and strategic weight. As they grow, we might see entirely new urban patterns emerge: former office districts repurposed into “digital infrastructure zones,” hybrid buildings where public spaces coexist with secure server cores, and architects experimenting with ways to make these massive, power-hungry structures both functional and visually integrated into city life.
